Uttama Kirit Patel is an author and editor from Abu Dhabi who provokes the ordinary through storytelling. She has been a semi-finalist in the Raymond Carver Short Story Contest and was nominated for the PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers. Shape of an Apostrophe is her debut novel, and her work has been featured in The Tribune, Vogue, BBC, LitHub, Times of India and Wasafiri, amongst others. Uttama is an adoptive mother, an ex-resident of over a dozen cities across continents, and the founder of South Asian Parent magazine. She holds an MPhil in Psychology from the University of Cambridge.
