Mai Al-Nakib

Mai Al-Nakib is a Kuwaiti author of the novel An Unlasting Home and short story collection The Hidden Light of Objects, winner of the Edinburgh International Book Festival's First Book Award. She holds a PhD in English from Brown University and taught English and comparative literature at Kuwait University for twenty years. Her short stories, poems, and occasional essays have appeared in, amongst others, Ninth Letter, The First Line, After the Pause, The Markaz Review, Rowayat, World Literature Today, New Lines Magazine, and the BBC World Service. She is president of the editorial board of The Markaz Review.
